Set largely in the deep atmospheric Spanish moss enshrouded bayous outside of New Orleans, the contemporary supernatural thriller, “The Skeleton Key” stars Kate Hudson as Caroline. She’s a strong-minded live-in nurse hired to care for an elderly woman’s (Gena Rowlands) ailing husband, Ben (John Hurt) in their home…a foreboding and decrepit Gothic mansion.

Caroline is a driven young woman with no time for local tales of witchcraft, voodoo and black magic. She’s there to do her job – caring for Ben. Intrigued by the enigmatic couple’s mysterious and secretive ways and their rambling estate, Caroline begins to explore the old mansion. Armed with a skeleton key that unlocks every door, she discovers a hidden attic room that holds a deadly and terrifying secret.

As Caroline begins to question her own convictions, she comes even closer to discovering the sinister legacy that threatens to take vengeance on anyone who comes to believe in its power.
